Aratinga Acuticaudata is the scientific name of the Blue Crown Conure and they’re also known as Sharp Tailed Conure or Blue Crowned Conure.

Blue Crown Conures can be found in some regions of central South America. They can live up to 30 years when they are well taken care of. In most cases, Blue Crown Conure will get to a length of about 30cm (12 inches).

This type of bird, the Blue Crowns, is known to be a gentle, intelligent and very playful creature. Most of the times the Blue Crowns Conures are extremely energetic and active, they like to play and exercise and sometimes display a destructive behavior. This is why owners need to mentally stimulate and sometimes train them a little.

The color of Blue Crown Conures is usually a deep green, with tail feathers that are red and blue feathers on the face and head. The eye rings are white and the beak is horn colored.

The savage Blue Crown Conures that can be found in the wild like to have a diet rich in vegetables, fresh fruits, berries, nuts and sometimes even grain. The same diet can be applied in captivity, as an adequate and balanced nutrition is extremely important.

Specialists say that these types of birds should have a minimum of two hours daily outside of the cage to play and exercise. Besides that, the Blue Crown Conures love to be surrounded by toys as they like to exercise the jaw muscles and chew on them.

Some people say that Blue Crowns are among the species that is the most quiet conure. But they are able to screech and scream, and they can be very vocal when they wake up and before they go to sleep. That’s why a lot of people don’t think they can be good apartment birds. They are also known to be gifted talkers and they have the capacity to learn a group of words and short phrases.
